This larger-than-life
male torso represents Rama, the hero of the epic Ramayana, and
one of the incarnations of Vishnu. Originally from the site of
Koh Ker, capital of Cambodia from 921 to 944, the imposing statue
would have stood in a temple sanctuary. Though missing head and
limbs, the torso can be identified as Rama from the quiver
strapped snugly over his shoulder.
