In 1995, Yellowman and fellow Cheyenne Chief William Bent Fletcher met with Nancy Blomberg, curator of native arts at the Denver Art Museum, to discuss Cheyenne objects in the museum’s collection, which includes more than sixteen thousand objects from more than a hundred American Indian tribes.
In 2002, Gordon Yellowman curated Cheyenne Visions I, a traveling exhibition featuring photographs of Cheyenne objects, at the Field Museum of Chicago. A year later, Yellowman and Blomberg began to work on Cheyenne Visions II, a similar exhibition that formed the foundation of this website and will travel to communities throughout Cheyenne country.
Funding for Cheyenne Visions II is provided by an Economic Development Initiative grant made possible by Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell. Additional funding provided by the citizens who support the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District.
