Grateful Dead, Miles Davis Quintet, Fillmore West, San Francisco

1970
David Singer

Before creating his first Fillmore poster, Singer had never attempted professional lettering—but to get the job, he convinced promoter Bill Graham that he had. Singer experimented with typography and regularly developed new fonts. “Lettering began to fascinate me because I realized I could take the alphabet, these 26 symbols, and extend them in limitless ways.”
